Overview

A course is a unit of learning that students register for and complete. Each course is made up of one or more lessons that students take in order to complete or pass your training program. Courses can be standalone tiles on your site or grouped together as part of a learning path.

How Courses Work

  • Each course is made up of one or more lessons, which are the content students consume, such as text, video, quiz, and embedded content. To learn more, refer to the Lessons 101 article.
  • You can customize courses, such as adding due dates and setting prerequisites.
  • You can hide courses and make them available only to a select audience.
  • When a student completes a course, you can award them a certificate as proof of their achievement.

The Course Management Page

The Course Management page of your dashboard is where you create and manage your courses. It presents a list of the published and unpublished courses you have created, their creation and last-updated dates, and the domains each course is included in.

Note: A course must be published for it to appear on your training site and be taken by students. To see the settings and information for each course, select its name from the list.

The Course Navigation Header

When you open a course, a persistent navigation header stays visible as you move through the course pages. It provides quick access to:

  • Details: course-specific settings and information.
  • Curriculum: the lessons within the course.
  • Actions: automated messages and certifications sent within the course.
  • Course Analytics: enrollment and performance data for the course.
  • Publication Settings: where and how the course is published.
