Create a New Catalog Page
This article helps Skilljar Starter admins set up a new Catalog Page from scratch, defining its title, description, URL, and labels so they can begin building the learner-facing layout.
Overview
A Catalog Page is the page within a domain that organizes and presents courses to learners. Before you can edit the layout, add widgets, or apply styling, the Catalog Page itself must exist. Creating a Catalog Page is a quick form-based step performed in the Domains & Publishing section of the Skilljar Starter Dashboard.
After the page is created, it opens in preview mode, where you can immediately enter layout mode and begin populating the page.
Navigate to Catalog Pages
To open the list of Catalog Pages for a domain:
- Open your Skilljar Dashboard.
- In the left navigation, expand Domains & Publishing and select Domains. The Domains page appears.
- Find the domain you want to add the Catalog Page to and select Catalog Pages. The list of existing Catalog Pages for that domain appears.
Create a New Catalog Page
To create a new Catalog Page from the Catalog Pages list:
- On the Catalog Pages list, click Create New Page. The Create a New Page appears.

- Provide the following details:
- Page Title: Enter the name of the Catalog Page. This is the primary identifier for the page in the dashboard.
- (Optional) Short Description : Enter a brief description of the page. This description is used for SEO purposes and helps search engines surface the page.
- URL: Enter a URL slug for the page. The slug is appended to the domain URL, for example, https://yourdomain.skilljar.com/page/your-slug. Choose a clean, descriptive slug that reflects the page content.
- (Optional) Labels: Add one or more internal labels to make the page easier to search and filter inside the dashboard. Labels are internal only; learners do not see them.

- Click Create and Preview Page. The new Catalog Page is created and opens in preview mode.
Note: After creating a page, Skilljar does not recommend changing the URL. The URL is referenced by any links pointing to the page, and changing it may break those links.
