May 2026 Release Notes for Skilljar by Gainsight
Release Date: May 7, 2026
Enhancements
Automated SCIM Provisioning
Skilljar now supports SCIM 2.0 provisioning for dashboard users, enabling identity providers (IdPs) such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, OneLogin, and more, to automatically manage dashboard access. With SCIM enabled, your IdP becomes the single source of truth for user lifecycle and role assignments, eliminating manual overhead and reducing compliance risks from orphaned accounts.
Key Enhancements
- Automated User Lifecycle Management: Dashboard accounts are automatically created when a user is added to a Skilljar-mapped IdP group and deactivated upon removal or deprovisioning. Returning users are reactivated rather than duplicated.
- Identity Providers Role Sync: Skilljar reads IdP group memberships and maps them to Skilljar roles (for example, Global Admin or Live Training Admin). When a user's group changes in the IdP, their Skilljar permissions update automatically.
- Secure Token Management: Generate and name SCIM tokens directly from Dashboard Settings with configurable expiration periods. Multiple tokens are supported, useful for staging and production environments, and can be revoked instantly when no longer needed.
- SCIM provisioning is only available on the Professional and Enterprise packages, as these include admin SSO.
- SCIM provisioning applies to dashboard users only. Learner accounts continue to be managed through SSO, API, or self-registration.
For more information on SCIM provisioning, refer to the SCIM Provisioning for Dashboard Users article.
Self-Service SSO
Admins can now set up and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) directly from the Skilljar Dashboard without raising a support ticket. Skilljar supports Token-Based, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and Community SSO configurations.

What's New
- Multiple SSO Types Supported: Choose from Token-Based, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, or Community SSO configurations, which can be enabled directly from your Skilljar dashboard.
- Full Lifecycle Management: Add, test, edit, activate, deactivate, or delete SSO configurations directly from Domain Settings, without the need to raise a support ticket.
- Instant Activation: Activate or deactivate any SSO configuration immediately using the toggle in the SSO Configuration section of your domain settings.
- Test Configuration: Test any configuration before going live using the test capability.
Only one SSO configuration can be active per domain at a time. To switch configurations, deactivate the current one first.
For more information on self-service SSO, refer to the SSO Using Single Sign-On (SSO) article.
Saved Localization Language
Skilljar now saves a learner's language selection directly to their profile, ensuring their preferred language is applied consistently across every device, browser, and domain, even after cookies are cleared or they sign in from a new location.

Key Benefits
- Language preference persists across all devices and browsers. Learners do not need to reselect when switching devices or clearing cookies.
- Works seamlessly across all domains within an organization.
- Zero admin configuration required. Learners set their preference once using the existing language selector.
- If a previously saved language is deactivated, the preference automatically resets to the default.
Limitations
- Language preferences are saved for authenticated learners only.
- Admins cannot currently view or edit a learner's stored preference from the dashboard.
For more information, refer to the Localization and Language Packs article.
Course Ratings as Modular Lessons
Skilljar now supports Course Rating as part of the SCORM Lesson, giving admins greater flexibility in how ratings are managed and delivered within a course. A Course Rating no longer needs to be added as a separate, standalone lesson. Instead, the Course Rating can be uploaded as a SCORM file or combined with other content directly within a lesson.

For more information on Course rating, refer to the Create Course Rating article.
