Add Widgets to Catalog Page
This article helps Skilljar Starter admins extend a Catalog Page by inserting a widget, such as banners, course lists, or content blocks, at the right position on the page.
Overview
In layout mode, a Catalog Page is built from a series of stacked widgets. The add control, the + button on the left edge of the page, lets you insert a new widget between existing ones. This makes it possible to grow a page over time, introduce new content types, or restructure a page without rebuilding it from scratch.
Each new section is created with default settings that can be configured immediately after insertion.
Add a Widget
To add a new widget to a Catalog Page:
- On your Skilljar Dashboard.
- Navigate to the Catalog Page where you want to add a Widget.
- In the admin toolbar at the bottom of the page, click Edit Layout to enter layout mode.

- Hover over the left side of the page where you want the new widget, and click the + button. The section library appears, listing the available section types.

- Select the type of widget you want to add.

- The new section is inserted at the chosen location with default settings. Click the section to configure its content, title, and other options.
- Click Publish to apply the new section to learners, or Cancel to discard it.
Note: If the new section overlaps with content that already exists on the page, review the page order and consider reordering the widget or hiding the duplicate.
