This article explains how to use draft mode to edit published courses without affecting students in Skilljar Starter.

Context and Benefits

Draft mode allows edits without interrupting students. You can modify published courses while the live version remains active.

Benefits of working in a draft include:

  • Edit safely: Modify and preview changes so your live course remains error-free.
  • Track progress: Save updates incrementally and return to them anytime.
  • Control publishing: Draft all necessary changes and publish them at once when ready.
  • Manage versions: Maintain the integrity of your published course while experimenting with new ideas.

Note: Ensure you have Global Admin access to create and publish course drafts.

Manage a Course Draft

1. Open the Skilljar Dashboard and select Course Management.

2. Select Courses and find the course you want to edit.

3. Click Edit as Draft in the top right corner.

4. Modify your content or add new lessons, and save your updates.

5. Click Publish to apply changes to the live course.

Note: You can have only one active draft per course. Publish or discard it before creating another.
