This article provides Skilljar Starter admins with a comprehensive guide to the Blocks widget category.
Overview
The Blocks category contains structural content widgets that act as prominent visual elements on a Catalog Page. Blocks are typically used for hero areas, banners, and short call-to-action elements that guide learners toward an action or message.
The Blocks category contains the following five widgets:
- Announcement card: A compact card used to display announcements, news, or contextual messages above the main page content. Use the Announcement card to highlight time-sensitive information without disrupting the main flow of the page.
- Banner: A full-width banner used to draw attention to a message, campaign, or program. Banners are well-suited to seasonal promotions, program launches, or important notices.
- Search Banner: A full-width banner that includes an embedded search field. Use this widget when you want learners to start their experience with search. For example, to help learners quickly find a specific course.
- Introduction Bar: A full-width bar designed for short introductory copy. Use this widget at the top of a Catalog Page to set context for a program or section.
- Quick Links: A set of curated links that learners can use to jump to important destinations. Use Quick Links to surface frequently visited pages, support resources, or supporting tools.
