Overview
Gainsight Managed Opt-Out allows admins to manage email preference settings using predefined categories and standardized opt-out pages hosted by Gainsight. This approach ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supports multilingual variants, and streamlines the user experience. Admins can edit footer content, apply a default opt-out setting across email templates, and offer localized versions without creating custom configurations.
To access the settings, navigate to Administration > Communication > Opt-out Configuration > Opt-Out Settings.
The Opt-Out Settings page provides two options for managing opt-out preferences: Gainsight Managed Opt-Out and Custom Opt-Out. Select one of these options to continue.
- Gainsight Managed Opt-Out uses predefined categories and opt-out pages managed by Gainsight.
- Custom Opt-Out allows you to configure your own footer and integrate with a self-hosted unsubscribe experience.
By default, the Gainsight Managed Opt-Out option is selected as the Opt-Out Preference.
If you select Gainsight Managed Opt-Out, refer to the Gainsight Managed Opt-Out section below.
If you select Custom Opt-Out, refer to the Custom Opt-Out section in Custom Opt-Out Setting for Global Opt-Out or Custom Opt-Out Setting for Opt-Out Categories article for further instructions.
Gainsight Managed Opt-Out
Admins can manage email preferences using Gainsight’s predefined opt-out categories and pages. The Pages and Categories section applies only when using Gainsight Managed Opt-Out. For more information on creating Opt-Out Pages and Categories, refer to the Email Opt-Out Configurations article.
You can perform the following actions using the default opt-out setting:
Edit Opt-Out Settings
To edit an opt-out setting:
- From the three-vertical dots menu click Edit. The Gainsight Opt-Out Footer page appears.
Note: If the opt-out setting is linked to an email template in the active JO program, a warning pop-up appears.
- Use the Footer editor to customize your footer. The editor supports adding Link Type (for One Click Unsubscribe and Manage Preferences Page), Link URL ( using Info Link), HTML, and various formatting options.
Note- You can edit the Link Type for One-Click Unsubscribe and Manage Preferences Page, but the Link URL for these two link types cannot be modified as it is directed to Gainsight hosted page.
- You can add or edit links for the Link Type: Info Link, which is typically used to include links to content such as Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and similar pages.
- The editor does not support adding Tokens. The Name and Description fields of the Gainsight Opt-Out Footer cannot be edited.
- (Optional) Click Manage Variants to add language for opt-out footer.
- From the Available Languages list, select the checkboxes next to the languages you want to add to the Selected Languages list.
- Click Done. The added language(s) is reflected in the dropdown list.
- Select a language from the dropdown list to modify the footer content for that specific language.. This setting ensures that language-specific content is displayed appropriately. For example, changes made while Irish is selected only appears when Irish is active, and not when English is selected.
Note: Translations are not generated automatically; admins must manually enter the content for each language.
- From the Available Languages list, select the checkboxes next to the languages you want to add to the Selected Languages list.
- Click Save.
Apply Settings to All Templates
To apply an opt-out setting for all the existing templates:
- From the three-vertical dots menu click Apply to All. A confirmation dialog box appears.
- Click Apply to All. The Gainsight Opt-Out Footer is applied to all existing templates except active templates in JO programs.
Note: This action cannot be undone.
