Getting Started with Bionic Rules


Rules in Gainsight allow you to trigger Calls-to-Action, perform updates to Salesforce and Matrix data, send emails and many other tasks. For example, you might get a list of customers with critical support cases and send an email to the Support Manager. Rules work by performing a query, then operate on that data to carry out tasks. With Bionic Rules, you now have the ability to perform many queries and steps. This allows you to perform more sophisticated tasks that previously required multiple Rules and Matrix Data Objects. Gainsight recommends you to go through the Configure Bionic Rules (path) to understand Bionic Rules, task creation, how to aggregate/transform/pivot usage data with Bionic Rules, export to S3 from Bionic Rules, use a Formula Builder in Bionic Rules, Custom Grouping, Time Series, and so on sequentially. 

This feature helps you scale your data investment by harnessing cutting-edge technology to transform customer data into value delivered. Gainsight’s Bionic Rules Engine can perform multi-step, in-memory data processing to convert raw customer data to real-world action. Bionic Rules can perform multiple fetches and transformations in a single rule; including tasks to fetch data from multiple sources, merge, aggregate, pivot and then load to an object.

Bionic Rules have the capabilities to transform fetched data in various ways and execute actions within a single rule.

Bionic Rules help you reduce the number of rules created and all MDA custom objects created, by enabling Admins to work with multiple data sets from multiple data sources; as well as process the data and perform actions.

Note: There are a few scenarios of Calculated fields that are supported in Custom Rules and not in Bionic Rules. We are working to close this gap soon.
