This article explains how CSMs use the Gantt Chart view in Success Plans.

Overview

The Gantt Chart tab displays a bar chart of the CTAs listed in the Cockpit tab against the planned schedule. It gives an instant overview of CTAs, their tasks, and important dates.

To open the Gantt Chart:

  1. Navigate to the Success Plans page or C360 > Success Plan section.
  2. Click the name of the Success Plan.
  3. Click the Gantt Chart tab.

Use the Gantt Chart Options

The Gantt Chart tab has two sections:

  • List View: Displays the CTAs and their associated tasks. Select the checkbox to close or reopen a CTA.
  • Bar Chart View: Displays the period between the Start Date and Due Date of each CTA or task in the calendar view. Drag the edges of a bar to change its Start Date or Due Date.
  • If your admin configures dependencies between CTAs in Success Plan templates, the dependencies appear in the Gantt Chart.
  • If your admin configures a Success Plan type so that CTAs are read-only in the Gantt Chart, only the Start Date, Due Date, Tasks, and Timeline fields remain editable.

You can perform the following options and actions in the Gantt Chart:

  • Success Plan Views: View a particular set of CTAs, such as All CTAs or My CTAs.
  • Day/Week/Month: View the daily, weekly, and monthly details of all CTAs against the planned schedule.
  • Name: Displays the name of the CTA or task.
  • Start Date: Displays the Start Date of the CTA or task.
  • Due Date: Displays the Due Date of the CTA or task.
  • Bar: Displays the period between the Start Date and Due Date of the CTA or task in the Bar Chart View.
  • Dependency: Displays the dependency between CTAs or tasks.
  • Calendar dates: Displays calendar dates in the chart view.
  • List View: Displays the CTAs and their associated tasks. Select the circle next to a CTA or task to close or reopen it.

Configure Success Plan Template Dates

Admins must meet the following rules when configuring Success Plan templates:

  • The due date of a task or CTA must be equal to or later than its start date.
  • The start date of a task must be equal to or later than the start date of its parent CTA.
  • The due date of a task must be equal to or earlier than the due date of its parent CTA.

If a template has CTAs and tasks with dates that do not meet these rules, the system takes the following actions when the template is applied.

  1. If the start date of a CTA or task is later than its due date, the due date updates to match the start date.
  2. If the start date of a task is earlier than the start date of its parent CTA, the start date of the task updates to match the start date of its parent CTA.

If the Start Date of a CTA or task is later than the Start Date of its child entity, the user must correct the existing configuration.

Examples of Configuration Checks

The following table shows how the configuration check updates invalid configurations. The example assumes that the template is assigned on June 1.

Name Start Date Due Date Invalid Configuration System Action
CTA 1 Assign Date + 0 days (June 1) Assign Date + 2 days (June 3)
CTA 2 Due Date of CTA 1 + 1 day (June 4) Assign Date + 2 days (June 3) Start Date is later than Due Date Due Date updates to the Start Date value (updated Due Date is June 4)
Task 1 of CTA 2 Assign Date + 0 days (June 1) Assign Date + 2 days (June 3) Task Start Date is earlier than the Start Date of the parent CTA Start Date of the task updates to the CTA Start Date (updated task Start Date is June 4). Due Date of the task also updates to the task Start Date (updated task Due Date is June 4).

Add Dependencies Manually

A dependency links the Due Date of one item to the Start Date of another. You can add dependencies between:

  • The Due Date of a CTA and the Start Date of another CTA.
  • The Due Date of a task and the Start Date of another task within the same CTA.

You can add or delete a dependency by dragging connectors in the chart or by using the Manage Dependencies window.

Add a Dependency Using Connectors

Use the connectors in the bar chart to link the due date of one CTA or task to the start date of another.

To add a dependency:

  1. In the Gantt Chart tab, locate the CTA or task that the dependency starts from.
  2. Drag the end connector of the CTA or task to the start connector of the dependent CTA or task.

Delete a Dependency Using Connectors

To delete a dependency:

  1. Double-click the dependency. A confirmation dialog box appears.
  2. Click Yes.

Manage Dependencies Using the Manage Dependencies Window

Use the Manage Dependencies window to select the tasks that a task must complete before.

To add a dependency using the Manage Dependencies window:

  1. In the Gantt Chart tab. The Manage Dependencies window appears and displays the name of the selected task.
  2. Under Must complete before, click Add Task. A list of the other tasks in the Success Plan appears.
  3. Select the dependent task.

  • After you add a dependency, moving the Due Date of a CTA also moves the Start Date of the CTA that depends on it by an equal distance. This does not change the Due Date or Start Date of the CTA that comes before it.
  • A dependent CTA cannot start before the Due Date of the CTA that it depends on.

Colors and Symbols in the Bar Chart

The bar for a CTA or task begins at its Start Date and ends at its Due Date in the calendar. The bar chart view uses the following colors and symbols:

  • Yellow Vertical Line: Represents the current day on the Gantt Chart. The Today label appears at the top of the line.
Note: When the current date is not the Start Date of the CTA or task, use the scroll bar at the bottom of the chart to move the chart left or right.
  • Red Text: Represents overdue CTAs or tasks. The Due Date and the label on the bar display in red.
  • Strikethrough Text: Represents closed CTAs or tasks.

The color of the CTA and task bars matches the color of the standard or custom statuses that the admin configures on the Administration > Success Plan page.
