Accessibility Enhancements

As part of Gainsight’s commitment to adhering to European Accessibility Act (EAA) and WCAG 2.1 & 2.2 AA standards, Gainsight has rolled out several updates that improve the usability of the Customer Communities platform for all users, including those using assistive technologies.

This release includes the following improvements:

Improving Page Structure for Easier Navigation

Gainsight has made important updates to the structure of our community pages to make them easier to navigate, especially for people who use screen readers or keyboards, in addition to a mouse.

What is improved:

  • Clear Sections on the Page: Added better labels behind the scenes so that assistive tools can clearly understand where the main content, footer, and navigation menus are located.
  • Simplified Layout: On some pages, such as forums and settings, we have removed extra headings and navigation sections that were causing confusion for screen reader users.
  • Smarter Navigation: When there is more than one menu on a page, each one now has a clear name, so users know exactly where they are and what they are selecting.
Making Badges and Status Labels Easier to Read

Gainsight has also improved how status labels and badges (such as In Progress or Resolved) appear across Ideas, Topics, and Questions in the community.

What is improved:

  • Better Defaults for New Communities: When a new community is set up, Gainsight now suggests color options for badges that are easier to read, even for users with low vision.
  • Control Stays with You: Community managers still have full control over badge names and colors; they can be customized as needed. Gainsight has provided accessible starting points, but it is up to each community to keep their badges and labels accessible if they make changes.

New Features

Instantly Translate Community Content with On-Demand AI Translation (Open BETA)

Gainsight introduces On-Demand Translation, an AI-powered feature that allows community users to instantly translate topic titles, bodies, and replies into their preferred language. This enhancement improves content accessibility and fosters global participation.

IMPORTANT:

This feature is currently available in Open Beta at no cost, and we would love your feedback as we prepare for General Availability (GA). To participate in the Open Beta program, click here.

On-demand Translation will become a paid add-on once it reaches GA.

Key Capabilities:

  • Translate community content into multiple languages instantly
  • Translate topic titles, body text, and replies
  • Customize translation language options for each community
  • Revert to the original language using the Show Original option
  • Apply translations across all topic types and content formats

Business Use Case: A German user visits an English topic, but may struggle to understand the content and fully engage in the discussion. The newly introduced Translate button allows the user to view the post and replies in German, making it easier to participate in the conversation. Static labels, such as Best answer by…, remain in English, but the core content becomes accessible, helping users engage more effectively across languages.

Admin Configuration

Admins can enable this feature to be available across multiple languages.

To enable on-demand translation:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Languages.
  2. Click the On-Demand Translations section to expand.
  3. Turn on the Use On-Demand Translation for Customer Communities toggle to add languages for translation.
  4. From the On-Demand Translation Behavior drop-down, select the languages to be added.

New Features

Support DSA Compliance with Author Notifications

To support compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), the new Notify Author feature enables community admins to clearly communicate moderation actions to content authors. This promotes transparency and builds trust by explaining why a post or reply was edited or removed.

The Notify Author feature is available in opening posts and replies in Control to send notifications to authors.

Improvements to the Community Search Experience

The community search experience provides an intuitive and informative interface that brings the most accurate and relevant search results upfront, helping community users save time.

With this release, the search experience is improved in the following ways:

  • Relevance-Based Search: Search results from the community and external sources are now displayed in a single, combined list, making it easier to find the best answer, no matter where it originates from.
  • Content-Type Icons: Each search result now includes an icon that indicates what type of content it is, such as a question, article, discussion, product update, idea, or event. These icons make it easier to scan and identify the kind of content you are viewing.
  • Simplified Search Results Layout: To make it easier to focus on relevant results, the interface now excludes extra metadata such as likes, views, and comment icons. Only essential content details are shown in a clean and condensed layout.
