Disabling a Course or Path Enrollment
This article explains how to deactivate or expire a student's course or path enrollment in Skilljar Starter.
Overview
Under the Students section of the Dashboard, you can search for a student, update their lesson or course progress, remove them from a course or path, and generate a course completion certificate. This article covers removing a student from a course or path by deactivating or expiring their enrollment.
How to Remove a Student From a Course
1. Open your Skilljar Dashboard and select Students.
2. Search and select the student by name or email address.
3. On the student's information page, select the Course you want to update.
4. Select Edit in the upper right to open the editable fields for the course, the lessons, and the course enrollment.
5. Scroll to the Enrollments section. To remove the student immediately, deselect the Active checkbox. To expire access at a specific time, enter a date in the Expires at field.
Student Experience
Once you deactivate or expire a student's course enrollment, the student can no longer access the course content or the curriculum page. They can still see their certificate and lesson progress. A student must select the Register button on the course detail page to re-enroll. Progress is always saved, so if they re-register they can continue where they left off.
How to Deactivate a Student From a Path
1. On the Student Profile in the Dashboard, find the Learning Path Enrollments table, which lists the paths the student is enrolled in.
2. Select the linked path name to open the Path Enrollment view.
3. Select Edit, deselect the Active checkbox, and remove the expiration date.
4. Select Save.
When deactivating a student from a path, consider the following:
- If the student re-registers for the same path, a new enrollment is created and appears as a new line in the Learning Path Enrollments table.
- When a student enrolls in a path multiple times, the table shows an entry for each enrollment.
- Once a path enrollment is deactivated, the student loses access to any courses contained in that path, unless they had registered for those courses independently before enrolling in the path.
