KC Bot New Experience FAQs (Beta)

This article contains the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to the new Knowledge Center Bot experience.

Can I add static content on the new Bot?

Yes, you can add static content such as the following welcome message or a contact support placeholder:

To add static content: 

  1. Click Add Widget and select Content Group.
  2. Select the Thumbnail layout and click Proceed.
  3. Clear the Images checkbox.
  4. Add content (for instance, a javascript function) which calls a null function (noFunction()).

  5. Add a display name  and description based on the use case. 

The card, once launched on the bot does not perform any action and simply acts as a text holder. 

Can I create an embedded bot using the new editor?

Yes, embedded bot support for the new KC Bot is available starting June 9.

What happens to my existing bots?

Existing bots remain unchanged and continue to function as they do.

Will my existing bots be automatically migrated to the new bot model?

There is currently no auto-migration. To use the new bot and provide the updated bot experience within your product, you need to create a new bot.

How do I edit the display name of a content item?

In Content Library, use the Display Name field to rename a content item. This update applies across all bots using that content.  Alternatively, to update the Display name from the editor, click the edit icon against the content to modify Display Name, Description, and image. 

How can I set a gradient background?

Gradient backgrounds are available by default, and there is currently no customization available for gradients.

Can I resize the bot?

The bot size is currently fixed. Future updates may allow the height to adjust dynamically based on the content added and the user's browser window. 

Is the bot still draggable?

Yes. You can turn on or off the Draggable option to control whether the bot can be moved or not. This option is available under Configure > Design > Position. 

Can I make smaller UI tweaks, such as modifying the progress bar color or setting a custom corner radius?

Colors are now consolidated into a few options to simplify and streamline updates across the bot. Corner radius for each widget is inherited from Configure > Design > Theme > Corners.

Will I be able to modify the CSS?

No, CSS customization is currently not available.

Is localization supported?

No, localization is currently not available in the Beta release.

Is CE / Skilljar integration available in the new editor?

No, CE or Skilljar integration is currently not available.
