Secure Your Google BigQuery Credentials with Automatic Masking

Gainsight now masks sensitive credential fields in connector configurations to strengthen security. When you create a new connection or add a new secret while editing, credentials such as Client Secret are visible only once during that session. If you close and reopen the edit window, the Client Secret is masked and no longer visible.

Edit Connection dialog with OAuth selected and masked API secret field highlighted.

Additional Changes

  • Dataset ID renamed to Database Name: In the BigQuery connection UI, the field previously labeled Dataset ID is now called Database Name.
  • Certificate file handling improved for Custom Auth: In the Custom Auth edit flow, previously uploaded certificate files are no longer displayed. However, if you update other properties and save the connection, the existing certificate file continues to be used. You no longer need to re-upload the certificate file when making changes unrelated to it.

Custom connection setup with project ID, database name, and JSON key upload.

Re-Enabled Gainsight Widget in Zendesk
Automatic Update

We have re-enabled the Gainsight widget in Zendesk with improved access control and security.

What Changed

  • When you establish a Zendesk connection and link Gainsight to Zendesk, Gainsight automatically creates a user with a Viewer license.
  • When a user logs in to the Zendesk widget:
    • Gainsight verifies whether the user exists in Gainsight.
    • If the user exists, the widget applies the user’s actual Gainsight license and permissions.
    • If the user does not exist or does not have the required license, the widget continues to operate with Viewer-level access.

Admins can manage and update user licenses in Gainsight as required. The permissions configured in Gainsight determine the access level within the Zendesk widget.

The updated Gainsight widget is available for download from the Zendesk marketplace.

Security Improvement

In previous versions, the widget granted admin-level access during integration. This approach posed a potential security risk because elevated privileges were broadly assigned.

This enhancement introduces a controlled, user-based permission model that:

  • Aligns widget access with actual Gainsight user licenses.
  • Prevents unnecessary admin-level access.
  • Strengthens overall security and governance.

For more information on the Gainsight widget, refer to the Gainsight widget in Zendesk article.
