Gainsight IPs Allow Listing

This article explains for admins/security teams what is IP Allow listing and the list of IP Addresses that need to be allowed and not blocked in their firewalls, antivirus, or other network appliances.

Introduction

IP Allow listing: An allow list is a list of items that are granted access to a certain system or protocol. When an allow list is used, all entities are denied access, except those included in the allowed list.

The following are examples of different allow list applications:

  • A network administrator may configure a firewall with a list that only allows specific IP addresses to access the network.
  • A protected directory within a website may use an allow list to limit access to certain IP addresses.
  • Some email systems can be configured to only accept emails only from email addresses that have been added to a user's allow list.
