Salesforce: Reconnecting and Self-Service Backfill
Overview
If your Salesforce integration becomes disconnected, you can reconnect it and backfill missed data using a self-service option in Skilljar.
Skilljar detects integration failures caused by events such as expired authentication tokens or password changes. When this occurs, the system displays a recovery option on the Salesforce settings page. You can re-authenticate the connection and sync missed records without contacting Support.
Eligibility Criteria for Self-Service Backfill
The Backfill button appears only when all of the following conditions are met:
-
Status: The Salesforce integration is in a Disconnected state.
-
Timeframe: The disconnection occurred within the last 21 days.
IMPORTANT: If the integration has been disconnected for more than 21 days, the Backfill button does not appear. Contact Skilljar Support to request a manual backfill.
Reconnect Salesforce Integration and Backfill Data
To reconnect your Salesforce integration and sync missed data:
- Log in to your Skilljar Dashboard.
- Navigate to Integrations > Salesforce.
- Review the alert message indicating the disconnected status.
- Click Reconnect.
- Complete the authentication process.
- Click Backfill.
The system identifies the Last Sync Date and pushes all missed records from that date to the current time into Salesforce.
How the Backfill Process Works
- The system retrieves the recorded Last Sync Date.
- The system identifies all data created or updated after that timestamp.
- The system sends the missed records to Salesforce.
The backfill runs once per button click.
